ABOUT SOUNDS LIKE FUN!
Hello, I'm Evangeline Richards. Sounds Like Fun! was created when a friend asked me if I would make up a story for his five-year-old son. The specific request was, “Could it not have a serious moral message, or anything too dangerous or sad.” As a father, he was struggling to find stories for little ears that fitted this brief. The call ended with the agreement that the story needed to just be 'play'.

I’ve always loved storytelling and been fascinated with the details that make up characters, so I was eager to take on this challenge. Be it seeds transforming to forests, or bricks into kingdoms, this single request has evolved into the ideas emporium of Sounds Like Fun!

As a child, I loved reading and making up my own stories. This has not left me, and my university studies lead me to a First Class Honours in Drama and Creative Writing. My background of acting involves performance in theatre festivals in both Edinburgh and Australia.

My writing partner Clair Mangan and I have made the seven episode podcast series, Cupid Said, in homage to Alan Bennet and his talent for building characters from minute details. Click here to listen to those podcasts on Spotify.

All I need from you are some details of the listener's favourite things; best friends, favourite animals, current interests, and I will weave them into their own audio story where they are the protagonist. The service is aimed at kids between four to eight years, but all audiences are welcomed. Once the story is ready it will be sent to you as a downloadable file (mp3).

Ava's Story
For Ava’s story I was given the content of: she loves riding her bike and cooking on her outdoor cooker, though no one in the family has yet tried her ‘mud soup’. She loves being in the garden, anything to do with exploring out there and is always chatting to the two statues by her cooker - Maude and Brian, both Toucans. Older brothers Sid and Quentin, very close with Granny Sheila.

Using the above information, please listen to the story that I put together for Ava.
