BOOK YOUR STORY

To order a story, you just need to fill out the questionnaire below, and with this starter material I will come up with optional storylines. I’ll then choose the one I like the sound of most and will improvise the story for the listener around these ideas, which usually comes to a time of 20 - 25 minutes.

Younger children may be more interested in a slightly shorter story, so there is also the option to order two 10 minute stories. You will still only need to fill out the questionnaire once.

What is the name of the listener, how old are they and when is their birthday?

Great. How are they best described? e.g. Evie is cheekier than a monkey's bottom but sometimes shy around new people.

Who are the important people in their lives and what are their names? Do they have any siblings, grandparents or cousins that they spend their time with?

A few more questions. Do they have a best friend? If so, what pastimes or games do they share with them?

Do they have a favourite food? Teacher? Animal? Book?

Most importantly, can you tell me roughly seven pastimes or activities that they love doing? e.g. Evie loves writing stories, playing with her Barbies, riding on her scooter with Emily, feeding her imaginary animals in the garden, Sesame Street, fairies and making dens…

Is there anything to avoid or that would scare them in the story? e.g. Evie hates spiders, the episode of Pingu when he's trapped in the cavern and the mosaic dolphins at the bottom of Banstead swimming pool.

The stories normally come out at 20-25 minutes. Do you think this is too long for the listener's attention span and should I aim for 15 minutes?

And finally, is this a birthday or celebration present; would you like a message at the beginning? e.g. 'Happy Birthday Evie, this is a story created just for you from your brother Ian'? Or would you like the story to start with no intro?
